NOWPayments Review 2026: Eligibility, Fees and Merchant Fit
NOWPayments is worth considering if you're eligible and want customers to pay in crypto while you receive it in your own wallet. Start with the restrictions: its terms exclude EU, UK, US and UAE residents or citizens, and people located in or resident in Russia. For eligible merchants, the published fee schedule is 1% for same-coin payments and 1.5% for conversion, fixed rate or customer-paid fees. The help pages disagree on fixed-rate fees, Custody is optional and the EUR bank route has conditions, so read the details before you integrate.
Can your business use NOWPayments?
Check eligibility first. Section 15 of the current terms excludes EU, UK, US and UAE residents or citizens, and anyone located in or resident in Russia. Other jurisdictions are excluded too: the restriction covers places where cryptocurrency services are restricted or prohibited. The terms cover the website and related processing and custody services, and we found nothing suggesting the restriction applies to bank withdrawals alone.[1]
A company needs an answer too, and the public wording doesn't give one: how does the restriction apply to the company, its directors and its owners? Incorporating elsewhere doesn't, by itself, settle a residency or citizenship restriction. If the terms exclude you, start with an eligible provider, not a fee comparison.

NOWPayments is a useful shortlist option for eligible merchants who want broad crypto choice and payments to their own wallet. Its published schedule is 1% for the same coin and 1.5% for conversion or specified settings, with blockchain costs extra. The fixed-rate guide gives a different price, and account discounts need approval. Optional Custody adds balance management, swaps and batch payouts, but changes who you rely on to release your money. The EUR bank route needs account approval and a complete quote. Settle eligibility, the receiving asset and your fee settings before you choose it.
- Eligible shops that want crypto in their own wallet
- Merchants who need more coin choices than a Bitcoin-only checkout
- Shops with someone to check payment amounts and handle exceptions
- Platforms evaluating invoices, prefunded subscriptions or batch crypto payouts
- People excluded by the residency, citizenship or location rules
- Businesses that need a confirmed USD bank payout
- Teams expecting every withdrawal, refund and conversion to be free
- Merchants who need a licence we could verify for their product
The overview below still uses an earlier coverage count of 300 currencies, while the current pricing page advertises 350+. Neither tells you which pairs are open for your checkout. Its cost figure covers same-coin processing only, before network costs and anything NOWPayments doesn't quote. The review rating blends different users' experiences.
We read NOWPayments' public terms, fees, help, product pages and plugin listings on 11 October 2026, along with Tether's protocol information and the alternative providers' own pages. We also read the current Trustpilot profile. This is a document review: we made no account, installation, payment, withdrawal or support enquiry. When a page wouldn't load, we didn't take that to mean a feature was missing. The examples use hypothetical approved merchants and published rates. Scores are preliminary under our methodology, and what a provider says it can do isn't the same as tested behaviour.
How does NOWPayments handle your money?
By default, NOWPayments processes the customer's crypto payment and sends the proceeds to your chosen wallet. Optional Custody lets funds accumulate in a balance instead, and the dedicated fee answer treats the two as different flows.[6] Decide before you launch which you need: crypto in your own wallet, a balance you use for payouts, or money you eventually need in the bank.
- 01
Set the receiving asset
Decide which coin and network you want your business to receive, and whether to use your wallet or Custody.
- 02
Create the customer's invoice
The customer gets the payment amount and deposit address through a checkout, payment tool or your integration.
- 03
Process the payment
NOWPayments confirms the deposit and converts it if the chosen receiving asset differs. An exception can require review.
- 04
Check what arrived
Match the payment and amount to the order. Your wallet receipt, Custody credit and eventual bank arrival are different events.
Direct wallet receipt suits a merchant who already has a place to hold and account for crypto. Custody can suit a platform paying affiliates or collecting many small receipts before withdrawal. The terms describe Custody as a third-party service, so moving funds into it changes who you rely on to release them, whatever general marketing says about “non-custodial”. Neither choice guarantees instant availability, since verification or an unusual deposit can interrupt processing.
What are the NOWPayments fees?
The Fees article updated on 14 October 2026 gives 1% for the same coin in and out and 1.5% for conversion, fixed rate or fee-paid-by-user. Its walkthrough now agrees. Account discounts come on top of that: identity approval reduces the base rate by 0.10 percentage points, and business approval by another 0.40, bringing qualifying same-coin payments to 0.5%. Budget the discount only once your approved price is confirmed.[3]
| Operation | Published charge used here | What needs attention |
|---|---|---|
| Customer pays the coin you receive | 1% service fee | Network costs come on top |
| Customer pays a different coin | 1.5% service fee | A complete conversion quote is still needed |
| Fixed rate or fee-paid-by-user | 1.5% in the fee answer | Integration Guide gives fixed rate 1% |
| Swap between existing Custody balances | 0.5%, included in the quoted rate | Applies to swaps only, not every invoice |
| Ordinary external crypto payout | 0% service fee | Network cost per outgoing transfer |
| Qualified ChangeNOW Pro transfer | Zero service and network fees, with conditions | Covers that internal transfer only |
| EUR bank withdrawal or exceptional recovery | No complete public tariff verified | Account and case-specific charges need a quote |
The Integration Guide's fixed-rate figure conflicts with the dedicated fee answer, so budget 1.5% for that setting until NOWPayments confirms your account price. Passing the fee to customers also changes the amount they're quoted.[5]
The August pricing update calls 0.3% an individually agreed rate, so it's a possible commercial offer, not the price for an ordinary new account. We didn't find a standard volume ladder that tells a merchant exactly when its rate drops.[7] Our NOWPayments fee guide compares the fees operation by operation.
These estimates cover processing fees only. They leave out network costs, conversion margins NOWPayments doesn't quote, provider minimums, and bank, account and exceptional charges. CoinGate's unpriced quote margin and BitPay's unpriced mandatory application fee are left out too, and a lower bar tells you nothing about eligibility or the full bill.
NOWPaymentsLowest estimate$100$100 1.00%
CoinGate$100$100 1.00%
BitPay$225$225 2.25%
Published rate estimates only. Provider minimums, network, conversion, bank and account charges may be extra.
What would a $10,000 month cost?
Say an eligible shop takes 100 orders of $100 and customers pay the same coin and network the shop receives. At 1%, it owes $100 in service fees, leaving $9,900 before other costs. That's a starting budget, not the whole bill.
The direct-wallet fee description involves three blockchain transfers: the customer pays for the initial send, while two processing transfers are deducted from the merchant's deposit. With Custody, it's the customer's send and one merchant processing transfer, and withdrawing the accumulated balance comes later. Neither flow makes network costs disappear.
To see why small orders matter, imagine a network deduction of $0.80 per payment. That invented figure adds $80 over 100 orders, but $400 over 500 orders with the same $10,000 in sales. A real quote for your flow and network is what tells you what to expect in your wallet at month end. We haven't measured today's fees, and some payments can fall below the provider's minimum.
Does a larger order reduce the rate?
A larger order doesn't change NOWPayments' standard percentage, but it spreads any per-transfer cost across more revenue. The curve below compares that percentage with BitPay's percentage plus fixed fee. It says nothing about which network is cheapest right now.
The chart shows processing fees only. BitPay's application fee and any higher-risk surcharge are outside this model too.
Use the crypto fee calculator to compare order sizes. If you sell inexpensive downloads, check minimums before steering customers toward a coin merely because its advertised transfer cost is low.
Can NOWPayments settle to your bank?
The terms describe a withdrawal route for EUR, with conditions, not a bank service in every currency. Section 10 uses a third party, requires Custody and a USDT-on-TRON balance, and allows charged conversion of other balances and business checks by the partner.[1] Your account's bank rail, minimum, full fee and arrival schedule aren't in the public documents we read.
The off-ramp page's “over 20 fiat currencies” refers to customers making fiat deposits that become crypto inside Custody, not to 20 bank-payout currencies.[11] The Integration Guide names Guardarian for its fiat process, so ask which partner and terms your account would get.
| Money route | What you can plan around | What still needs confirmation |
|---|---|---|
| Payment to your wallet | Receive crypto after processing | Which receiving pair is enabled, plus deductions and exceptions |
| Credit to Custody | Accumulate crypto for later use | Balance access, withdrawal settings and verification |
| EUR through the bank route | A process with conditions, described in the terms | Approval, rail, limits, conversion price and bank arrival |
If a supplier needs €8,000 on Friday, €8,000 of crypto in your balance isn't €8,000 in your bank by Friday. Get the conversion and payout quote, cut-off and expected arrival before you promise it. A business that needs USD should look for an independently confirmed USD bank option, because we didn't verify one here. The NOWPayments–CoinGate comparison is the one to read when bank receipt is the deciding requirement.
Which coins and networks should you offer?
Offer the coin-and-network pairs currently enabled for your payment and receiving flow, not the whole marketing catalogue. The pricing page advertises 350+ currencies, which is NOWPayments' own coverage claim. Any given pair may still be closed for your merchant account, a withdrawal or a conversion.[4]
The network matters. “USDT on TRON” and “USDT on Ethereum” are different transfer instructions, and an address or exchange that accepts one may reject the other. Give customers the network shown on their invoice, and check that your receiving wallet supports it.
Don't offer USDT Omni as a normal current option: Tether lists it among deprecated protocols. Tether also says EUR₮ has been wound down and is no longer redeemable. Old gateway lists are no evidence of current support for either.[30]
Minimums also depend on the coin pair. The current minimum-payment help directs merchants to the status page or API and warns that a below-minimum deposit can fail and usually can't be refunded.[22] We can't give one minimum for all invoices. For a $4 product, check whether the chosen flow can process $4 before you compare its fee, or a seemingly cheap checkout can create a support case for every small sale.
Are the integrations ready for your store?
NOWPayments publishes plugins, payment tools and a sandbox. Its payment-tools page describes API notifications and invoice options, and the public sandbox help describes testing without real transactions.[15] Those are capabilities the provider describes, so compatibility with your store still needs checking.
| Package or tool | Current published evidence | Practical limit |
|---|---|---|
| NOWPayments WooCommerce package | Version 2.0.0; updated 30 April 2026; WooCommerce 10.7 listed | Provider's compatibility claim, not our test |
| CoderPress directory package | Version 1.4.1; 25 August 2026 changelog; tested up to WordPress 7.1.3 | Different maintainer and package; read its own support terms |
| NOWPayments WHMCS package | Version 1.2; updated 31 March 2022; WHMCS 7.9 listed | No sign it works with your current version |
| API and public sandbox | Integration docs and payment simulations | A sandbox result isn't live settlement |
CoderPress identifies itself as developer and maintainer, and lists subscriptions and priority support as Pro features, so look at each package's maintainer and support terms before choosing one.[16][17][18]
When should your store fulfil an order?
Fulfil only after checking the processor's payment record, the amount received and whether it matches the order. A customer landing on a success page isn't enough. The status help says partially_paid can mean funds have reached you while the amount is still short, and it describes settings where repeated or wrong-asset deposits get a Finished label whatever the amount.[21]
A $100 invoice with $97 received still needs a decision: collect the remainder, accept the shortfall or arrange a refund. Cancelling a payment doesn't send money back. Tell your developer what should happen in each case, including partial payments, duplicate notifications and unexpected deposits, before automatic delivery depends on a single status label.
Does NOWPayments require verification or have a licence?
Verification is possible, and nothing in the public documents promises you won't be checked. The AML policy permits identification checks and lists personal identity and residence information, plus company, director and beneficial-owner documents for businesses.[2] The terms require information when requested and allow future mandatory KYC, so a short signup doesn't guarantee continued approval or uninterrupted withdrawals.
Be ready to show who owns your business, what it sells and where it operates.
The terms name FD Transfers LLC, registered in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. That registration and contract address tell you nothing about where it operates from or whether it holds a licence for your product. We couldn't verify a named financial permission for these services, so check one yourself before you rely on it.
If you need a specific regulated service, ask NOWPayments for the contracting entity and its licence and scope, then check the relevant register. This is general information, not legal advice.
What about gambling, adult, forex and VPN businesses?
NOWPayments markets casino and adult-platform solutions, but marketing isn't approval of your business. The casino page describes deposits, payouts and permanent addresses, and the adult page presents an industry-specific product. Neither overrides the eligibility rules or the terms' restrictions on unlawful and unlicensed activity.
| Business | Public evidence reviewed | Sensible next step |
|---|---|---|
| Casino or iGaming | Current casino product page | Confirm licensing, jurisdictions and your account approval |
| Adult platform | Current adult product page | Get approval for the exact content and business model |
| Forex or trading platform | We couldn't verify any current acceptance detail | Ask for the permitted product and licensing requirements |
| VPN service | We found only historical marketing | Confirm current acceptance, since old marketing isn't approval |
An adult subscription site and a general merchandise shop can face different approval and monitoring requirements even at identical turnover. Give NOWPayments a clear description of your business before integrating, and keep its answer. The guide to high-risk payment options can help you frame your approval questions.
How do refunds and payment mistakes work?
Once a payment has gone to your wallet, refunding the customer is normally your job. NOWPayments' refund help treats that as different from cases where the provider may try to return or recover a deposit.[23] You need your own refund policy for goods and services, and a plan for crypto mistakes.
| Situation | What the documentation supports | What you should tell the customer |
|---|---|---|
| Completed order needs a refund | Merchant handles money already received | Confirm amount, asset, network and destination before sending |
| Underpaid order | Payment may be processed if above the minimum | Explain whether you accept the shortfall or require a top-up |
| Overpaid order | Processing doesn't automatically return the excess | Work out the extra and decide what you'll do with it |
| Wrong asset, network or repeated deposit | Recovery may need case review and validation | Avoid promising recovery or a delivery date |
| Deposit below the minimum | Can fail, and a refund is usually unavailable | Contact support, but don't assume a recoverable balance |
The service-quality specification says overpaid funds are processed and the provider can't refund the excess in that flow. Its underpayment description also depends on the minimum.[25] So the order amount still matters even when the payment status looks final.
Refund validation can require proof that the requester controls the originating wallet or the proposed return address. The validation help describes extra steps where the money came from an exchange, whose sending address may not be a suitable return address.[24] Gather the invoice, transaction reference and sending details first.
Extra refund or recovery fees can apply, with the charge disclosed before finalisation. The terms allow up to 20 business days for asset extraction, and an additional price for speeding it up.[1] That's an exceptional extraction window, not a deadline for every refund or a guarantee that unsupported funds can be recovered. The price comes as a case-specific quote, so get the available amount, charge and destination before approving a recovery.
Can it handle subscriptions and batch payouts?
Yes. The published tools include recurring invoices, deductions from prefunded customer balances and mass payouts, which do different jobs. The subscriptions page describes emailed invoices each billing period and an automatic flow funded from a customer's existing balance, and it doesn't let you debit any external wallet automatically.[20]
For a monthly membership, decide whether customers will pay each invoice or keep a funded balance. An emailed invoice still needs the customer to pay it, and a balance deduction needs enough available funds and a clear response when the balance runs out. That affects your renewal reminders and access rules more than the word “recurring” suggests.
Custody help describes batch payments via a file or API, with a zero payout service fee and a network cost per outgoing transfer. Settings decide whether that cost comes from your balance or the recipient's amount, so a $50 affiliate payout isn't necessarily $50 received.[8] Put the payer rule in your contract and your reconciliation.
A ChangeNOW email-transfer product works differently: it uses an internal destination, with qualified Pro transfers described as having zero service and network fees. Those conditions aren't the tariff for every external withdrawal.[14] Within Custody, the 0.5% swap fee is already included in the offered rate and has no network fee, so don't add it to all payments or count it twice.[9] The NOWPayments–CoinPayments comparison helps when platform balance operations matter more than a simple shop checkout.
How strong is support and what do users report?
NOWPayments advertises 24/7 support and publishes email, help and contact pages. Its service-quality specification includes targets such as a seven-minute support reply, which are the company's targets, not response times we measured. The status page is worth a look, but we haven't measured uptime or validated its live values.
Trustpilot showed 4.5 from 1,095 reviews when we read it, with 75% five-star and 13% one-star. It says the business invites reviews, replies to all negative reviews and typically replies within 24 hours, which describes its replies on Trustpilot, not its processing support queue.[31]
The reports mix merchants' integration experiences with shoppers paying another business. Positive ones describe help and straightforward use, and critical ones raise delays or follow-up concerns. We couldn't verify any of them, and none of them shows how often a merchant's payments succeed or fail. They're best used for questions to put to support.
Before launch, decide who handles exceptions, and keep what support will ask for: invoice and transaction references, the amount received, the network and the expected destination. Records matter most when the customer paid through an exchange or used a different asset.
What are the main pros and cons?
The strongest fit is broad crypto acceptance for an eligible business that can manage a wallet and payment exceptions. The main trade-offs are eligibility, conflicting fixed-rate guidance and unquoted bank or recovery costs.
- A published 1% same-coin rate makes a budget possible
- Broad advertised crypto coverage and several checkout tools
- Payments go to your own wallet by default, with Custody optional
- Subscriptions, balance swaps and batch crypto payouts are published
- A public sandbox for trying the integration
- Residency, citizenship and location restrictions come first
- Fixed-rate guidance conflicts, and account discounts need approval
- Network costs and some quotes aren't in the headline rate
- The EUR bank route has conditions, and we couldn't find its full price or arrival schedule
- Recovery can be charged, delayed or unavailable
- Plugin compatibility and support targets are the provider's claims, not our test results
- We couldn't verify a named licence for these services
How does NOWPayments score?
The score follows the site's published factors, so it doesn't predict that any one merchant will be approved or paid on time. NOWPayments earns credit for its asset breadth and published tools, and licensing and service evidence affect other factors. The result is preliminary while some inputs are still open.
Reviews draw on dated documents and calculations. Scores reflect recorded inputs; account approval, full costs and service performance need separate checks. We haven't opened merchant accounts or made test payments. How we score
A business excluded by the terms gains nothing from a favourable feature score, so weigh the score against your country, receiving currency and operating needs. The processor-selection guide walks through that order of decisions.
Which alternatives should you consider?
Consider CoinGate for eligible EUR bank settlement, BitPay if your country is open to new merchants, or BTCPay Server if you want to run your own checkout. The list below sorts them by the site's formula, which says nothing about your eligibility.
CoinGate lists EU countries and the UK, but its current list of countries doesn't include the US. Standard processing is 1%, with an unpriced payment-quote margin, and Standard bank settlement is weekly. Its currency page doesn't list USDT.[33][35]
BitPay's entry tier is 2% plus $0.25 below $500,000 monthly volume. It requires an unpriced non-refundable application fee, and new merchant onboarding is paused in the EEA, UK and Australia. The US and Canada are included.[36][37]
BTCPay Server is open-source software for running your own checkout that receives payments directly. The software charges no processor percentage, but hosting, maintenance, network costs and any conversion service you choose still need a budget. Its FAQ points to plugins for fiat conversion, so it isn't a turnkey bank-settlement service with a quoted price.[39]
- 1
CoinGateFor eligible merchants who want EUR bank settlement
81/1001%- 1% Standard processing, before its quote margin
- EUR SEPA withdrawal with a 50 EUR minimum amount
- No USDT listed, weekly Standard settlement, an unpriced quote margin and country restrictions
- 3
BitPayFor a new merchant in a country BitPay currently accepts
73/1002% + $0.25- US and Canada included in current country help
- Published processing bands make the percentage and fixed fee visible
- Entry rate 2% plus $0.25, unpriced mandatory application fee, and paused EEA, UK and Australia onboarding
- 12
BTCPay ServerFor businesses able to run and maintain their own checkout
57/1000%- Open-source software without a processor percentage
- Direct receipt to the merchant's wallet
- Hosting, maintenance and support are your job, and conversion and bank receipt need their own setup
The CoinGate review and BitPay review cover their account limits. Once you know how you need to be paid out, the NOWPayments alternatives guide and full gateway ranking can widen the shortlist.
